All foodstuffs must comply with the new rules on labelling according to Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on food information to consumers from 13 December 2014.
Note: uncompliant products placed on the market or labelled prior to this date may be marketed until exhaustion of stocks.
Reminder: main new requirements on mandatory information:
– Legibility: a minimum size of character is required.
– Allergens: they need to be highlighted in the list of ingredients (e.g. “fish oil”).
– Additional or more detailed mandatory mentions depending on the product composition
Distance selling: all mandatory mentions (except minimum durability date) shall be available before the purchase is concluded.
Nutrition declaration: it is now mandatory for all processed foodstuffs.
